Opera: A Stage for Learning (OSFL)
Mission Statement
An educational program that is based on professionalism, education and partnership with our community OperaLancaster’s Education an Outreach program seeks to provide the Lancaster Community, Central PA, and surrounding region with opportunities to experience opera from school children to adults. It is our goal to provide an experience based on quality interaction and information to introduce and further an individual’s comprehension and appreciation for opera.
We offer a wide array of children’s programs, which include open dress rehearsals, backstage tours, individually created curriculum for classrooms based on PA Department of Education standards and guidelines. Additionally, we visit local and regional schools to present minimalized versions of popular or relatable operas for young children.
For young adults and adults, we provide lectures before concerts, custom lectures, and concerts. In addition we also offer community previews, discussions, lectures, and mini concerts based around our season and the standard opera repertoire.

Secondary Programs
Below are the current "Tool Boxes" we offer music, theater, and literature educators so that they can incorporate opera in their classroom, as well as the culminating of a free performance of opera specifically for their students. Click the opera title you wish to investigate for use in your class room. You will be taken to the "Tool Box" for the appropriate opera. If you cannot click on the title of an opera, that means that we are currently developing material for that specific opera.
